Looks like the good folks at TM are still at it. At the latest All Japan Model Hobby Show, Tokyo Marui has announced yet another next generation AEG featuring the patented Shoot & Recoil Engine, the HK416D.
As with TM's previous SCAR model, the HK416D will come with an outer barrel extension to convert the 10.4 inch barrel to 14.5 inch, and vice versa. Both the upper and lower receivers will be metal (cast zinc alloy). The front rail will be machined from extruded aluminum, same as that of the TM SCAR upper receiver (hopefully without the same initial rail dimension problems). It will use the same dual stick battery pack as that of the TM SOPMOD, also housed in the stock. Due to the mechbox constraints, the pistol grip will not have the same angle as that of the real deal, but it will still feature the same styling nonetheless. MSRP is 64,800 Yen (a bit over $826 with the current exchange rate), and it is projected to be available by the end of the year. Sharp eyed readers should notice the M320A1 in the photo. It is still under development, and will be available a bit after the HK416 release as a stand alone unit. It will not be able to utilize the 40mm gas powered grenades that are current on the market. Instead, it will use an internal gas reservoir to propel BBs out of the 6 inner barrels embedded in the launch tube. One can think of it as an enlarged TM tri-barrel shotgun powered by gas. There is no MSRP nor release date information at this time. TM has quite a few other new models in the pipeline. MP5K HC (High Cycle) will be available in December this year, but MSRP is unknown at this time. There are also many new gas blowback replicas, notably Biohazard 6 (Resident Evil 6) limited edition "Leon Model" SIG P226 (no release date nor price details), Colt Series '70 1911 (2013 Spring release at MSRP 19,800 Yen), M&P, and HK45. |
