Testing Methodologies

Impact Noise:
To determine the magnitude of the impact noise, we recorded 3 mechbox cycles on semi-auto using CoolEdit Pro and a standard PC mic. The maximum amplitude of the recorded waveforms are then averaged. The mechbox was placed 5 feet from the microphone, pointing directly at the mic, to simulate a nearby adversary.

Rate of Fire:
Rate of fire was determined by using the Audio Analysis Method documented previously.

Muzzle Velocity:
Muzzle velocity was mesured using a Chrony F1, with the test platform SG1 stabilized in a MTM Case-Guard rifle sighting-cleaning stand. 10 shots are measured and averaged, using Marushin MaxiBB 0.20g BBs, as they were determined to be the most consistent in the Mega-BB Review I.

Test Platform:
We used our test platform G3 SG1 mechbox with the following mechbox modifications.

Systema M120 spring
Systema aluminum piston
Systema spring guide with bearing
Prometheus double-torque gears
Systema metal bushings
