Page 4 of 17 Candidate 3: Prometheus Hard Piston
Prometheus, the mechbox parts division of LayLax, is widely regarded as the provider of best mechbox parts available. This reputation was built on the impressive custom AEGs sold through First Factory, many of which use exclusively Prometheus parts when possible. The Prometheus Hard Piston displays the largest deviation from "standard" piston design through the inclusion of reinforcement rails alongside each plastic tooth. These rails strengthen each tooth by tying them all together, theoretically improving their ability to withstand increased loads. The Prometheus Hard Piston also uses 7 metal teeth, a large departure from the standard 1 tooth design. Cursory examination of the piston shows average molding quality with some molding lines visible.
Piston: Prometheus Hard Piston Weight: 0.6oz Piston Material: unconfirmed Metal Teeth: 7 Average Barcol Hardness (piston): 11.0 Average Barcol Hardness (tooth): 87.1 Tapered Lip: yes Distinguishing Feature: reinforced plastic teeth, 7 metal teeth

Although the picture is fuzzy, one can clearly make out the guide rails molded as part of the teeth to provide support.
